This course will examine the foundation and the tools to mount an effective organizing campaign based on theory, principles, and determination. We will examine the federal labor law governing private employers and the rights of private-sector employees who wish to engage in collective action. We will further study successful and unsuccessful organizing campaigns and where it went wrong. In closing, we will explore the common pitfalls of labor unions failing to continue to “Organize the organized.”
