All good campaigns require effective communication. In this class you will improve your power of persuasion so you can get your message across effectively in both writing and speech. Learn best practices to strategically craft arguments to maximize your power to influence others and their decision making. Participants will take a close look at how renowned public speakers structure an argument and deliver it persuasively.
Afternoon session:
You’ve laid the groundwork, done your research and conducted the necessary analysis—now it’s time to get ready for action. This class will focus on building a campaign to drive policy change. We will learn to gauge the policy landscape around a core issue and to use tools like power mapping and stakeholder engagement to neutralize or block opponents while activating champions and allies. Participants will look at how to message to and engage with each stakeholder in order to move the needle for change.
