As an output of ILR’s strategic plan and thanks to the generosity of alumni, Dean Kevin Hallock launched the school’s theme project, “Technology and the Evolution of Work.”

Students, staff, faculty and alumni have been given the opportunity to work collaboratively on a topic that is of importance to the world of work and the school’s mission.

The initiative will foster creativity, drive innovation and, in the process, bring community members together in advancing ‘One ILR.’

Funded proposals will encourage deeper thought around an aspect of technology and its impact on the evolution of work; projects might even involve partnerships with other Cornell colleges, said Hallock.

Individuals are encouraged to submit proposals for the second-round deadline of Dec. 1.

Rebecca Paluch, Ph.D. student, “Keeping Old Friends:  Employment Relationships with Corporate Alumni Through Social Media Platforms”

Phoebe Strom, Ph.D. student, “Debugging Workplace Social Relations: How Technology Transforms Conflict and Collaborations”

A Feb. 1 reception will be held for the ILR community to celebrate “Technology and the Evolution of Work,” and the funded projects.

A related book project will run through the summer and fall of 2018. From now, until Dec. 1, the ILR community should suggest a favorite book by clicking here. You may also share favorite articles related to the theme. Although only one book will be selected, some submissions will appear on the theme web page.
