“Equity in Focus Summit” is Sept. 22

A magnifying glass placed over the word equity

Gender and racial equity in policymaking and workforce development is the focus of a day-long Sept. 22 event sponsored by the ILR School and the U.S. Department of Labor.

The “Equity in Focus Summit” will be held in Washington, D.C., at the labor department’s headquarter. Four hundred government officials, labor leaders and workers are slated to attend in person. Register to watch the livestream.

Speakers will include Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, Deputy Secretary of Labor Julie Su, Women’s Bureau Director Wendy Chun-Hoon and Latifa Lyles, a member of the White House Gender Policy Council.

Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh and AFL-CIO President Liz Shuler will offer pre-recorded remarks.

The summit will feature speakers from organizations that have launched promising policies and programs at the national, regional, state and local levels. Participants will hear from unions, mayors’ offices, industry leaders, researchers, advocates and workers on using federal funding to increase job quality and advance equity for women and communities of color.
