Dolgin '81 Named Alpern Winner

Tracy Dolgin '81, president and CEO of the YES Network, will receive ILR's Alpern Award in 2012.

The award will be made March 29 at the Pierre Hotel in New York City as part of the school's annual Groat & Alpern Celebration.

The Alpern Award is named in honor of business and financial consultant Jerome Alpern '49, MBA '50. It is given periodically to an ILR graduate whose career accomplishments have been primarily outside the field of industrial and labor relations, or to a friend of the school.

Dolgin, who oversees all aspects of operations for the nation's most-watched regional sports network, was named one of Sports Business Journal's "50 Most Influential People in Sports Business" two years ago.

He has led YES through a number of firsts.

In 2010, in collaboration with DirecTV, YES presented the first-ever 3D Major League Baseball telecasts.

In 2009, YES partnered with Major League Baseball Advanced Media and Cablevision in a landmark agreement producing the first live in-market streaming offering in professional sports.

Also in 2009, YES became the first regional sports network in the nation to launch its feed nationally on cable systems.

Before joining the YES Network, Dolgin served as managing director and co-head of Houlihan Lokey Howard and Zukin's (HLHZ) Media, Sports and Entertainment practice.

From 2000 to 2003, Dolgin was president of FOX Sports Net, the country's first national, regional and local supplier of sports programming. While there, Dolgin also managed the FOX owned-and-operated regional sports networks and FOXSports.com.

Dolgin went to FOX Sports Net from FOX/Liberty Cable, where he was chief operating officer from 1997 to 1999.

He was a founding member of and executive vice president of marketing at FOX Sports from 1993 until 1997. Before that, Dolgin worked for the FOX Broadcasting Company as executive vice president of marketing.

Before joining FOX, Dolgin was senior vice president of marketing at HBO Video. Earlier in his career, he worked at General Foods in product management. He graduated from ILR in 1981 and received his MBA from Stanford University.
