Designed for students interested in labor research and policy analysis, ILR’s Master of Science program explores key challenges shaping the world of work.
Through coursework, recommended internships, and thesis research, students develop expertise in labor and policy issues. Working closely with ILR faculty, students build research skills to analyze workplace challenges and potential solutions.

ILR's M.S. program is designed to be completed in two academic years and requires a research thesis.
M.S. students may work on applied research projects at ILR’s centers and institutes.
Outcomes
The program prepares students for careers in U.S. and global labor, policy, and nongovernmental organizations. Graduates often pursue opportunities in the following areas:
- Labor and Employment Policy Research
- Labor Union Research, Strategic Campaigns and Collective Action
- International Labor Standards Research, Monitoring and Enforcement
Faculty and Research
M.S. students in the ILR School work closely with ILR faculty as part of their thesis research. ILR faculty study issues of work from the individual to the global. Our researchers span and combine multiple disciplines and backgrounds to explore the incredibly broad range of topics that comprise the world of work.
