What originally drew you to the MILR program at Cornell?
I researched several graduate programs focused on HR, and the curriculum within Cornell’s MILR program exemplified flexibility in this area of study. I was drawn to the way it brings together different perspectives from both students and faculty. The program allows you to structure your studies to gain a deeper understanding of HR while also taking other classes and specializing based on the role you want to pursue.
What is your favorite part of the MILR program?
The opportunities to engage with the professors and students. Everyone is genuinely invested in helping each other grow, and the program, along with its classes, challenges you to think critically about the role of HR in shaping workplaces.
How has the program prepared you for the next step in your career?
Engaging in conversations both inside and outside of the classroom and has provided a deeper understanding of HR areas I had previously limited exposure to, giving me new ways to approach challenges in the future.
What is your favorite class, and why?
My favorite class is Human Resources Management with Professors Kehoe and Hausknecht. It offers an alternative way of thinking about when and which HR interventions to implement and provides a clear framework for understanding the various dilemmas HR teams face.
What tips would you give to incoming MILR students to make the most out of the program?
