Spencer Nuzman, MILR Class of 2027

Spencer Nuzman

MILR ’27

What originally drew you to the MILR program at Cornell?

What initially drew me to the MILR program was the strong alumni outcomes and the caliber of companies that recruit here. I saw it as a place where top organizations come to find future HR leaders, and that really stood out to me.

What is your favorite part of the MILR program?

My favorite part of the program is learning from the professors. They do an incredible job of teaching core business concepts and connecting them directly to Human Resources, which helps bridge theory and practice.

How has the program prepared you for the next step in your career?

The program has helped me understand what’s expected of someone aspiring to be the next generation of HR leaders. It’s allowed me to strengthen my foundation and develop the mindset needed to succeed in the field.

What is your favorite class, and why?

My favorite class so far has been Strategy and Finance. I’ve always enjoyed learning about business, so being challenged to think through financial and strategic concepts has been both rewarding and exciting.

What tips would you give to incoming MILR students to make the most out of the program?

My biggest tip would be to lean into what you don’t know and embrace the things that make you uncomfortable academically. Stepping outside your comfort zone is where the most growth happens and that growth will pay off later in your career.

Where will you be interning this summer?

I will be interning at PepsiCo as an HR intern!
