Pilar Núñez-Cortés is a Professor of Labour and Social Security Law at Universidad Loyola in Spain. Her academic career has focused on labour law, social protection, precarious employment, informal work, and the legal and institutional challenges shaping contemporary labour markets.
She serves as European Coordinator of the Latin American Institute of Labour and Social Security Law (ILTRAS), promoting international academic cooperation and dialogue between European and Latin American perspectives on labour law, social justice, and the future of work. Her work brings together scholars and researchers to advance comparative research and strengthen international collaboration on labour and social protection issues.
Her recent research examines the economic, social, and legal costs of informal employment in Mexico, with particular attention to the structural factors that perpetuate labour market inequalities and the challenges these pose for effective labour protection and social security. Her broader research agenda seeks to contribute to evidence-based policy debates and to strengthen legal and institutional frameworks that advance decent work and social protection.
As a Fellow of the Worker Institute at Cornell University’s ILR School, she brings an international comparative perspective and a strong commitment to advancing research and dialogue on precarious work, informal employment, and improving workers’ lives.
