Melissa Marseille
Dr. Melissa Marseille is the National Secretary-Treasurer for the Committee of Interns and Residents-SEIU (CIR-SEIU), the nation’s largest and fastest-growing physician union representing over 40,000 resident physicians and fellows. Born and raised in New York, Dr. Marseille serves Brooklyn as an Emergency Medicine resident physician at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.
Dr. Marseille earned a Master of Public Health from George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health, focusing on maternal mortality among Black women, global health, and health disparities in vulnerable populations. Her medical education at American University of the Caribbean shaped her passion for global health, and as a daughter of Haitian immigrants, she aspires to establish a nonprofit clinic in Haiti providing high-quality care to underserved communities at little to no cost.
In 2023, Dr. Marseille was elected Regional Vice President for CIR’'s New York Private region, collaborating with city officials and policymakers through the union's Committee on Political Education to advocate for quality patient care and physician well-being. She has also contributed to the union's Diversity, Inclusion, and Anti-Racism Taskforce, advancing health equity initiatives that address disparities tied to race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status. Now as a National Officer, she hopes to expand these efforts to strengthen advocacy for physicians, patients, and underserved communities nationwide.
