Braxton Winston II

Braxton Winston II, a member of International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 322, was elected to lead the North Carolina State AFL-CIO in September 2025. President Winston was born in Camp Lejeune, NC, and attended Davidson College before moving to Charlotte and working as a union stagehand and grip. He served three terms on the Charlotte City Council, including one term as Mayor Pro Tem. In 2024, he was the Democratic Nominee for North Carolina's Commissioner of Labor, receiving 47.25% of the vote. President Winston is committed to building the strongest, most inclusive labor movement in the South.
