Cathy Ferguson

Cathy Ferguson lives in Southgate, Michigan with her husband, Jeff, and their two dogs, Murphy and Jasmine. They are empty nesters, and their daughter, Emma, is 27 years old.

Cathy worked at U.S. Steel for 20 years as a crane operator and a Continuous Galvanizing Line Delivery Operator. During her time at U.S. Steel, she pursued a college education, earning first an Associate degree and then a Bachelor of Science in Paralegal and Administration through an accelerated 2½-year program. She was also active in her local union, serving as an Assistant Griever and a Civil Rights Representative.

In July 2020, Cathy was hired by the United Steelworkers as a Staff Representative. She currently also serves as District 1’s Educational Coordinator for Michigan and Ohio. In her role, she represents members across a wide range of industries, including steel, chemical, banking, cemeteries, foundries, trucking and automotive parts, recycling, and CNC operations. Cathy looks forward to continuing to support and represent her members for many years to come.
