Matt Bennet

Associate Director, National Education Association (NEA)

Matt Bennet is a labor leader, social justice advocate and results-driven organizer with deep expertise in organizational transformation, growth strategies, and policy development.

He has worked across the local, state, and National Education Associations to envision a 21st-century data-driven union that can maximize its power in a digital and AI-powered future.

His leadership aims to build union power and win for public education through NEA’s investment in its members as empowered agents of change. These rank-and-file leaders act as force multipliers for transformation, as evident in fights for first contracts in Virginia & Colorado, paid student teaching in Michigan, democratized bargaining in Massachusetts, the national commitment to become strike- ready, and countless other campaigns to improve the lives of kids, educators, communities, and our system of public education.
