Lenore Friedlaender

Executive Director, Climate Jobs New York/Climate Jobs New York Education Fund & Special Projects Director, SEIU Local 32BJ

Lenore Friedlaender serves as Executive Director of Climate Jobs NY, a coalition of labor unions working to create good, union jobs in the clean, green and renewable energy sectors. Lenore brings over 35 years of experience in the labor movement. She was an elected leader of SEIU Local 32BJ for 21 years, served as 32BJ’s first organizing director, later as director of strategic partnerships, director of member engagement, and she currently leads 32BJ’s work on Long Island.


Friedlaender is a member of the New York City Workforce Development Board, the New York City Economic Development Corporation Offshore Wind Advisory Council and NYSERDA’s Offshore Wind Jobs and Supply Chain Technical Working Group. In addition, she co-chairs the Thomas Shortman Training Fund Advisory Committee (training school for 32BJ members jointly managed by the Union and employers), is a member of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Environmental Justice Committee, the SEIU Property Services Division Leadership Board, and has been one of the SEIU representatives on the UNI Global Union Property Services Section Board.
