Overview
Jonathan Raspe is a historian of Modern Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia specializing in economic and labor history. He received his Ph.D. from Princeton University in 2024. His first book project, Empire of Industry: Ethnicity and Industrialization across Soviet Eurasia, demonstrates how industrialization transformed ethnic relations in the postwar Soviet Union. His research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals including Kritika, Nationalities Papers, and the Jahrbücher für Geschichte Osteuropas. He has previously taught at the University of Zurich, the Humboldt University of Berlin, and Princeton University.
