Overview

Smith has a diverse academic background – having springboarded from physics, to conducting research on sustainable energy systems/green technologies, to working as an Environmental Health Science Research Associate at the University of Michigan School of Public Health, prior to his role with the CJI.

In addition to conducting broad research related to climate policy and equitable decarbonization, he will conduct data extraction, mining, and analysis/visualization support for CJI’s state-based work. In his free time he revels in music production/beatmaking, caring for his wide array of houseplants (primarily philodendrons, aka philoFRIENDrons), and watching/playing ice hockey. Dylan has an M.S. in Applied Physics from the University of Michigan, an M.S. in Physics from DePaul University, and a B.A. in Astrogeophysics from Colgate University.
