Project: Unions and Inequality
Describe your research project: I work with Ben Hollander under Professor Kate Bronfenbrenner analyzing dependent care coverage in union first contracts.
What have you gotten out of the experience so far? I have learned a lot about contracts and the necessity of union organizing. I've seen the things workers have achieved under their first contract, and although some of the terms may not be great, I realize that the workers were even worse off before unionization. This has just reinforced my desire to join the labor movement and fight alongside workers for their rights.
What kind of student might be interested in a research fellowship at the Worker Institute? Any student that is passionate about the labor movement and the broader economic and social justice movements!
