ILR Graduate Honored for Graduate Assistant Teaching

Michael Iadevaia ’16, Law ’19 received the General Mills Award for Exemplary Graduate Assistant Teaching at the 26th McPherson Honors and Awards Dinner this spring on the Cornell campus.

A recent graduate of the Cornell Law School, Iadevaia was a five-time teaching assistant for the labor and employment law course taught by Associate Professor Kati Griffith, who praised his ability to “communicate complex concepts and legal research strategies in a straightforward, easily digestible, manner.”

Known as a teaching assistant who dared his students to think critically and logically regarding legal reasoning, Iadevaia was also cited for being accessible and dedicated to students. According to one of his nominees, “Michael’s selfless, patient, and unyielding commitment to his students redefines what a teaching assistant is capable of offering. His genuine demeanor and sincere engagement defy expectations.”

In addition to his teaching assistant responsibilities, Iadevaia worked for Cornell's Legal Information Institute and was an associate for the Cornell Law Review.
