Overview
Y. Samuel Wang (Sam) is an Assistant Professor in Statistics and Data Science. Prior to Cornell, he was a principal researcher (post-doc) at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business. He received his PhD in Statistics from the University of Washington and an undergraduate degree in applied math at Rice University. He also worked as a management consultant for a few years before embarking on his PhD.
His research interests include causality and methods for discovering interpretable structure in complex systems. This includes problems in the areas of causal discovery and graphical models. He has received an NSF CAREER Award (DMS-2542851) and the Tom Ten Have Award.
