LA County District Attorney's Asset Forfeiture Section

Prosecuting civil fofeiture actions over cash and other property valued over $25,000 that appear to be drug trafficking proceeds and subject to state civil forfeiture, as per Calif. Health & Safety Code section 11470 et al.

District of Columbia

Federal Mine Safety & Health Review Commission

An independent agency composed of Administrative Law Judges, Commissioners, and attorneys, who adjudicate workplace safety issues in the nation's mines. Most cases deal with civil penalties assessed against mine operators and address whether the alleged safety and health violations occurred as well as the appropriateness of proposed penalties. Other types of cases include orders to close a mine, miners' charges of safety related discrimination and miners' requests for compensation after the mine is idled by a closure order.

Florida

US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida

The mission of the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, is to enforce and defend the laws of the United States of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible. The United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida is the chief federal law enforcement officer for the District. The Southern District of Florida encompasses a geographical area of approximately 15,197 square miles extending south to Key West, north to Sebastian and west to Sebring. The Southern District includes the counties of Miami-Dade, Broward, Monroe, Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee and Highlands. The United States Attorney's Office (USAO) has a staff of approximately 222 Assistant United States Attorneys (AUSAs) and 170 support personnel. The main office is located in Miami, Florida. There are three staffed branch offices located in Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Fort Pierce, and one unstaffed branch office located in Key West. There is also a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) office in West Miami-Dade and Broward, and a District-Wide Health Care Fraud Facility in Miramar. Cornell University Division of Alumni Affairs and Development Human Resources

Cornell’s Office of Alumni Affairs and Development has primary responsibility for facilitating lifelong engagement between the university and its alumni, parents, and friends. In addition to raising money for the university, the office’s staff of over 400 creates and orchestrates events and programs designed to connect alumni to Cornell and to each other, including diverse lecture series, class reunions, and campus activities for alumni and students. It facilitates and supports a broad range of active volunteer organizations through a unique online portal (CU Volunteer), an international network of Cornell clubs, and an array of Advisory Boards and Councils. The Alumni Affairs and Development staff is located primarily at Seneca Place in downtown Ithaca, New York. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

It is difficult to predict what it will be like exactly but the students will be able to shadow me on various aspects on HR including benefits, year end, on-boarding etc. As a small team, we do every aspect of HR and the students will get to observe and understand the flexibility, adaptability and communication skills that are needed in this role.

Activities observed: Participant will be observe the news operations of Bloomberg BNA publications covering legal and regulatory news across several policy areas. Participant will speak with editors and reporters and get a sense of how they choose, report and edit stories and publish in both a print and online environment.

City of Redmond – Office of the Mayor

The City of Redmond is a high quality community located 15 miles east of Seattle. Redmond is home to 57,000 residents and also serves as the 2nd largest employment center in the Greater Seattle metropolitan region, with strong concentrations in the software, digital arts/interactive media, biotech and aerospace industries. The Mayor’s Office provides leadership and management oversight to over 650 employees (both non-union and union) who deliver a broad range of municipal services to our community, including police, fire, public works, parks & recreation, and planning/development services.
