As organizations respond to growing calls for racial justice and gender equality, many have committed to increasing the diversity of their workforce. However, successfully recruiting diverse talent is often challenging, particularly in a competitive labor market. In this working group, Professor Devon Proudfoot will lead a discussion on strategies and challenges associated with recruiting diverse talent along the lines of race and gender, as well as other dimensions of diversity, such as sexuality and ability. Topics discussed will include different approaches to developing diverse talent pools, inclusive methods of recruiting, and the role of pipelines in attracting diverse talent.
Some of the questions we may address are:

What challenges has your organization faced in increasing the diversity of your talent pool? What strategies have worked well to increase your talent pools diversity?
How might an organizations talent sourcing methods influence their ability to recruit diverse talent?
How does the messaging used in recruiting materials influence an organizations ability to attract diverse talent? What role might language in job ads and recruitment materials play? How can recruitment materials be made more inclusive?
What role can talent pipelines play in bolstering organizations diversity-focused recruiting efforts?

Prior to the session, attendees should give some thought to the questions included in the description, so they are prepared to share with the group. We also strongly prefer that participants be on camera during the session to allow for more engaging interaction. If for some reason after you sign up for the working group, something comes up last minute (especially while many of us are working from home), it would be great to get even a last minute e-mail advising us that you cannot attend as we sometimes have a waiting list.
