Overview

Meanwhile, the workplace is also changing. Hybrid and remote work arrangements have changed the context in which work is happening. They have opened employers’ access to broader talent pools but have reduced mobility barriers for employees as well. Additionally, reduced opportunities for live interactions have introduced logistical challenges for organizations in fostering connection and creating a shared sense of culture among employees.

In this working group, Rebecca Kehoe, Associate Professor of HR Studies in the ILR School, will facilitate a discussion among HR leaders from CAHRS partner companies about what your organization has experienced and learned in navigating the evolving employment landscape. Our discussion will focus on questions such as:

  • What changes have you noticed in employees’ mindsets and expectations about work and the employer-employee relationship in your company? What does your company see as the greatest area of concern or opportunity in this vein? How are you assessing and monitoring these trends over time?

  • How has your company responded to evolving employee mindsets and expectations related to their work? What role has HR played in these responses? What strategies or responses have been most effective?

  • How have hybrid and/or remote work arrangements influenced the evolving dynamic in the employer-employee relationship in your company? How have these work arrangements affected employees’ relationships with their leaders and peers? In what ways have these work arrangements improved or hampered the quality of work?

  • What strategies or resources have leaders found to be most useful in building and maintaining connection with their hybrid or remote teams? What challenges in the hybrid/remote work context are you still struggling to solve?

Our virtual working groups are kept small (20-25 participants) to allow for rich discussion and best practice sharing. Given the limited size of each session, we ask that you only register for a session if you will be able to attend for the duration. Prior to the session, attendees should give some thought to the questions included in the description, so they are prepared to share with the group. We also strongly prefer that participants be on camera during the session to allow for more engaging interaction. If for some reason after you sign up for the working group, something comes up last minute, it would be great to get even a last-minute e-mail advising us that you cannot attend as we sometimes have a waiting list.
