Katie McCulloch
Katie is a Data Associate at the Yang-Tan Institute. She supports the New York State Education Department’s Special Education Technical Assistance Partnership for Data (TAP for Data), a professional development initiative.
Before beginning work at the institute, Katie had over 15 years of experience in K-12 and post-secondary educational settings, serving as a teacher, educational administrator, and professional development specialist for teachers in New York state. She supported equal access and helped create rich learning experiences for students with disabilities in her work as a high school special education teacher in New York City, where she held a teacher leadership role; as chairperson of a Committee for Special Education; and as assistant director of disability services at SUNY Cortland.
She believes that collaborating with teacher and administrator colleagues around robust, data-driven decision-making can significantly enhance outcomes for all students and drive systemic change. Her specific areas of interest include supporting multilingual students with disabilities, competency-based education, and evidence-based practices.
