Overview
Sponsored by Governor Hochul’s Office of the Chief Disability Officer, in partnership with essential New York State agencies, the two-day Disability Rights and Employment Awareness Month (DREAM) Symposium will acknowledge the rights that people with disabilities are entitled to, celebrate the extreme value that disabled New Yorkers bring to the workforce, and assist in matching prospective qualified candidates with employers. Join us for:
- Breakout topics including Employment 1st; transition across the lifespan; student-led Individualized Education Programs; Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing initiatives; benefits essentials and myth-busting; Individual Placement and Support; ADA rights and responsibilities; and NYS as a Model Employer
- A job fair featuring over 50 inclusive employers from the Capital District and beyond
- A disability resource fair with NYS agencies, employment service providers, non-profit supports and services, and essential resources for job seekers
- An assistive technology fair featuring demonstrations from tech industry leaders
- Pamela Schuller, acclaimed disability advocate and comedian, delivering the Opening Plenary on Day Two
This event is free, open to the public and wheelchair accessible. ASL and CART will be provided at all workshops and presentations. Additional accommodations can be requested upon registration.
