Skinner to Speak at the 2021 Time for Turbines Conference

Lara Skinner will speak at the annual “Time for Turbines 2021: Building a New Green Workforce” conference on Tuesday, January 26th. Her panel Training an Equitable OSW Workforce will discuss how to create good, long-term jobs and build equity in the offshore wind industry, with an emphasis on identifying access barriers to good jobs in this field and offering policy solutions.

Skinner authored “The U.S. Can Build the Largest Offshore Wind Industry in the World” blog post in advance of the conference. In the post, Skinner outlines four elements that can help develop an ambitious offshore wind industry in the U.S.:

  1. Set ambitious offshore wind targets and local manufacturing requirements
  2. Make offshore wind jobs good jobs
  3. Increase funding for and expand access to government-registered apprenticeship programs
  4. The Biden Administration can commit to building the largest offshore wind industry in the world.

Time for Turbines is an annual conference that brings together policymakers, labor and environmental advocates and wind energy professionals to discuss current issues and opportunities in New Jersey’s rapidly expanding offshore wind industry.
