Cornell Speech Team at the 2023 American Forensic Association National Tournament

The team traveled to Santa Ana to compete in their most competitive national tournament

The Cornell Speech Team brought 38 entries across 13 students to Santa Ana, California during the first weekend of April. To qualify for this tournament, students must finish in the top 3 of a regular season tournament twice. Qualifying students represent the best of their region and their team. Cornell was excited to qualify 9 novices to the national tournament. 

Cornellians Asha Prabhat and Margot Treadwell broke to quarterfinals in Communication Analysis, while Jaliah Smith broke in Poetry. Margot Treadwell advanced to semifinals, finishing in the top 10 speakers in the nation. 

Overall, Cornell finished 16th in the tournament.
