Cornell Debaters Win 2nd Annual Fingerlakes Cup

Meg and Eli brought home a cash prize in the local showcase debate

This year Cornell attended the second annual Fingerlakes Cup. The Fingerlakes Cup invites one team from the University of Rochester, Cornell University, Colgate University, Hobart, and William Smith. This one-round show debate organized by Hobart and William Smith is judged by internationally recognized adjudicators from around the world.

This year's Fingerlakes Cup was held on Friday, March 3rd at 5:00 PM. The debate considered a motion to remove tenure for university professors, and Cornell was Opening Government. 

Representing Cornell was ILR senior Meg Kandarpa and CAS junior Eli Pallrand. The team was declared the winners of the Fingerlakes Cup, as well as receiving a cash prize of $1,000.
