Cornell Hosts Successful Novice National Tournament

60 teams attended our annual tournament, while 2 Cornell Novice teams placed highly

Last weekend, Cornell hosted our annual Novice National British Parliamentary Debate Tournament. The Cornell Worlds team virtually welcomed more than 60 teams of novices from across the country. Novices are those in their first year of competing .

Over 30 students from Cornell participated as Debaters, Judges, and Tournament Staff. Cornell Novices Jonathan Stowlow and Ram Orfanel broke to Open Finals. Additionally, Kartikay Jain and Manny Cortes reached English as a Second Language Finals.

Special shoutouts to Worlds team captains Meg Kandarpa, and Amaar Jeyasothy, as well as Eli Pallrand and Callie McQuilkin, for running such a large tournament with class and grace. The Worlds Team would also like to thank Sam Nelson, Armands Revelins, and Ibe Ibeike-Jonah for their guidance and endless support.
