The Immigrant Working Class and Its Role in Advancing Worker Rights
Campos-Medina Discusses her Stories of Belonging: TPS Workers Project in the Power At Work Blogcast
In December 2025, the Worker Institute's Executive Director, Patricia Campos-Media, appeared on the Power at Work blogcast with the Burnes Center for Social Change's Senior Fellow, Seth Harris, to discuss her Stories of Belonging: TPS Workers project.
The Stories of Belonging project is a collection and exploration of the approximately 325,000 Central American workers with Temporary Protected Status (TPS). While TPS holders have some protections and can legally work in the US, this program does not grant them a path to citizenship and does not eliminate the possibility of deportation. The program is increasingly at risk in today's sociopolitical landscape, and worker advocacy and awareness are critical for the workers who benefit from it.
