Professional Work History:

Stan Matusz, Esq. is an experienced mediator, workplace investigator and labor and employment attorney. From 1996-2003, Mr. Matusz was an associate attorney at one the nation's largest multi-practice law firms and represented employers in claims involving Title VII, the ADA, ADEA, ERISA, New York State Human Rights Law, New York Labor Law, NLRA, FMLA and other federal and state statutes. He also defended multiple class action, collective action and multi-plaintiff lawsuits involving the Fair Labor Standards Act, New York Labor Law, ADEA and New York Human Rights Law. In 2003, Mr. Matusz started his own law practice which focused on representing individual employees in discrimination claims and serving as class counsel for wage and hour matters brought under the FLSA and New York Labor Law. Since 2010, Mr. Matusz has served as a mediator, workplace investigator, factfinder and referee in labor and employment disputes -- roles which take advantage of his extensive experience in representing both employers and individuals.

Dispute Resolution Experience

Mr. Matusz has extensive experience mediating single plaintiff, multi-plaintiff and class action employment cases and acting as a third-party factfinder for sensitive workplace investigations on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, higher education institutions and school districts. Mr. Matusz also has the distinction of being appointed multiple times by federal and state courts as a neutral on class actions. He has twice served as a Special Master for the United States District Court (WDNY) and also as a court-appointed Referee for the Supreme Court, State of New York on a class action involving more than 25,000 employees.
