BP Team dominates at US Universities Debate Championship

Both Novice and Varsity teams win big in US fall championships!

From November 21st-23rd, Cornell’s British Parliamentary Team dominated at the US Universities Debate Championship at the University of Pennsylvania. Competing against 90+ teams from top national universities, Cornell proved they are a force to be reckoned with.

In the novice division, the season’s powerhouse team, Michelle Fan & Jayesha Sharma, crushed their competition and took home the USUDC Novice Championship title. They delivered their final round wins against teams from debate giants like Princeton, Duke, and Stanford. Yet another Cornell Novice team fought their way into elimination rounds, becoming Novice Semi-Finalists. In the open division, two of four Cornell teams won their way into elimination rounds, finishing as Open Grand Finalists (Soren Jensen & Eamin Ahmed) and Open Quarterfinalists.

After these phenomenal successes, the team is now channeling their energy towards the World Universities Debate Championship (WUDC) in Sofia, Bulgaria from December 27th to January 4th.
