Long Island Climate Change and Offshsore Wind Training

Labor Leading on Climate Launches Long Island Pilot Program

by Lara Skinner

The Worker Institute’s Labor Leading on Climate team conducted a pilot of its newly-developed “Climate Jobs and Offshore Wind (OSW)” training. The training is designed to provide Long Island union leaders and members with the knowledge, confidence and motivation to engage in public debates and decision-making on climate change, clean energy and offshore wind. Over 30 union leaders and members participated in Wednesday’s pilot training, one of only a few trainings that exists internationally to educate unions on climate change and clean energy. Over the next six months, The Worker Institute, in collaboration with Climate Jobs NY and the Long Island Federation of Labor, will roll this training out to the approximately 250,000 union members in Long Island.
