Labor Leading on Climate Team Participates on 350 Brooklyn Labor and Climate Panel

Avalon Hoek Spaans, Research and Policy Development Associate, and Zach Cunningham, Training and Education Associate, of the Worker Institute’s Labor Leading on Climate Initiative, participated in the 350Brooklyn’s Labor and the Climate Movement: Challenges and Opportunities panel session on Thursday, October 14th.

Some of the questions panelists explored included: How can the climate movement build stronger ties with labor, and be a better friend to workers? What are the obstacles to unionizing in the solar sector? Who loses in the transition to clean, green energy, and how can climate activists help? Where do key unions stand in the fight for federal, state, and city climate legislation?

Hoek Spaans and Cunningham were joined by Patrick Robbins of the New York Energy Democracy Alliance and Chris Schroth, organizer and IBEW electrician.
