Students impact around the world

Over 2,000 alumni, parents, and friends come together each year to support the ILR School. Their partnership and generosity provide critical funding for our students and faculty. They support our students and faculty whose experience and groundbreaking research advances the lives of workers and the future of work. No matter where you can support, or the size of your contribution, your gift has a positive impact and makes a difference.

Named Funds at the ILR School

ILR alumni, parents and friends create named, endowed and current use funds to support scholarship, students, faculty, programs and institutes at ILR.

Examples of typical funds and impact include:

Scholarship

Cornell’s need-blind admissions and need-based financial aid are a cornerstone of the University, and a concrete expression of Ezra Cornell’s vision to “found an institution where any person can find instruction in any study.” Cornell is one of a handful of America’s universities that admit any student regardless of ability to pay. Fifty percent of ILR students receive financial aid in a typical year, with nearly 20 percent receiving full financial aid. Named scholarships help to make a Cornell education possible for all students, no matter their resources.

Students

The ILR student experience goes beyond the classroom. Students apply lessons learned on campus to real-world situations through research, internships and international programs. These opportunities have a lasting impact on students’ lives and in communities across the United States and around the world. Thanks to donor support, ILR ensures all students have the resources they need to be successful from the time they are admitted through graduation.

Faculty

Distinguished faculty set ILR apart from its competitors. Dedicated to students and teaching a rich, practical curriculum, while also producing timely and highly relevant scholarly research, ILR’s faculty are world-class. The great faculty who built the ILR School and taught generations of ILRies are now retiring. ILR is hiring leading scholars and teachers who will shape the future of ILR and influence the lives of students for decades to come.

Donors support faculty hiring and research. These gifts help the School recruit the next generation of ILR faculty who are thought-leaders addressing the major issues of today including inequality, diversity, equity and inclusion, migration, climate change, solutions for a global economy and the impact of rapid technological change on the workforce.
