Build a Career at the Intersection of Climate Action and Equity
The Climate Jobs Institute is excited to offer New York State residents a unique opportunity to take its eCornell course, Climate Jobs: Building an Equitable, Resilient Clean Energy Economy, completely tuition-free. With three successful cohorts already completed, the final tuition-free cohort begins on June 3rd. The program is designed for policymakers, community activists, union leaders, and anyone passionate about advancing climate justice and building a clean energy economy that works for everyone. Prospective participants can register here.
Through this certificate, participants will explore the critical intersection of climate change, labor, and equity. You will examine the causes and consequences of a warming planet, uncover the political and economic dynamics shaping climate policy, and understand the roles of business, government, labor unions, and social movements in responding to the climate crisis. By the end of the program, you’ll have the tools to design and execute strategic campaigns that advance worker-centered, equitable climate solutions.
At the heart of the course is the climate jobs approach, a framework that emphasizes the creation of high-quality jobs in the transition to a clean energy economy. You’ll gain practical skills in policy analysis, labor strategy, and campaign planning. A recent graduate, Trevor Dolan, shares, “The course offered an incredible education on power mapping and campaign planning. I immediately used lessons from the course in my own advocacy work… I'm confident that the practical tools CJI offered will continue to be useful in my climate justice advocacy going forward.” Participants have also connected climate action to their surroundings. “One of the things I found most impactful about this course was how it connected climate change to my local community,” writes Gabrielle Mayfield, “throughout this course, I created a project that could be implemented in my community.”
Whether you are a union leader, policy maker, environmental advocate, or workforce professional, this certificate offers a comprehensive, engaging, and actionable path to make a difference in New York State. Don’t miss this final tuition-free cohort starting June 3rd—an opportunity to learn, build your network, and contribute to an equitable clean energy future.
