High Road Fellowships - Buffalo, NY
Buffalo-Niagara Community Reinvestment Coalition

What Did You Work On: I scheduled & met with local elected officials to educate around and discuss the New York Public Banking Act. I attended meetings to propose policies for the drafting of a Community Benefits Agreement catered towards the Buffalo Bills sports team. I researched banking practices and created educational materials surrounding public banking efforts in Western New York.

Summer Takeaway: This summer, I learned what it truly meant to take the High Road: serving your citizens and embodying public service. That civic participation and community involvement is imperative for social justice victory. That it is significant for local leaders, community organizations, and everyday people to join forces and fight for equity in any form of advocacy they are passionate about. In that case, anyone can be a High Roader!

Career Goals: In the future, I am hoping for more community involvement with labor groups and nonprofit organizations as well as pursuing a masters in public policy.

Shout Out: Thank you to my fabulous and wonderful placement supervisor, Kathryn Franco!
