Mary Newhart

Mary NewhartMary J. Newhart received a B.S. in May 2001 and a M.S. in August 2007 from the ILR School at Cornell University.  Her course work included Negotiation: Theory & Practice, Managing & Resolving Conflict, Arbitration, and Public Sector Collective Bargaining.  Her thesis examined the historical role of ombudsmen in institutions of higher education in the U.S. and explored whether the rise of alternative dispute resolution had significantly affected the role they play in managing conflict and disputes.   

Mary has been employed by Cornell University for over twenty years, working for the School of Continuing Education and Summer Sessions, the Program on Ethics & Public Life, and the Office of the University Ombudsman.  For the last five years she has worked in the Martin P. Catherwood Library in the ILR School.
