Challenges to Unions and Workers in the Age of COVID-19: Views from the Global South

On Wednesday, May 6th, the Worker Institute hosted a panel discussion on the main challenges facing unions and workers in the age of COVID-19. The panel offered a global perspective on this question, with a special focus on the Global South. The panel brough together trade union leaders from South Africa and Bangladesh and labor rights’ practitioners with experience in Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, and South Asia.
 
The live webinar was moderated by ILR Dean Alexander Colvin, with Kalpona Akter, President of the Bangladesh Garment and Industrial Workers Federation (BGIWF), Shawna Bader-Blau, Executive Director, Solidarity Center and Zingiswa Losi, President of the Congress of South African Trade Unions.
