Edmund T. Donovan
Professional Work History:
I am currently a practicing attorney in New York with specialized knowledge and experience working with labor, workplace and employment law matters and the fiduciary, securities, tax and financial accounting rules applicable to retirement, healthcare, compensation and other employee benefit programs. I am also a trained mediator at the NY Peace Institute, the NY Center for Interpersonal Development and Cornell University’s Scheinman Institute and a certified Arbitrator at the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and in the New York City Civil Court system. I recently completed a successful career with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), a multinational business advisory services firm. I was a PwC partner for nearly 25 years and most recently served as the US Markets Leader for their Human Resource consulting practice. At PwC I specialized in business consulting involving employment-related matters and the design and implementation of compensation and benefit programs for domestic and multinational companies.
I have extensive experience helping business organizations design, fund, implement and operate employee benefit programs including pensions and non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements, insured and self-funded healthcare and pharmacy benefit plans, as well as stock and other equity-based rewards. I also have experience advising companies on ways to address the employee retention and succession planning issues that arise in connection with corporate transactions including mergers, acquisitions, bankruptcies, spin-offs and joint ventures. My clients have included companies across a variety of industry sectors such as financial services, technology, health and life sciences, consumer products and telecommunications. More recently, I have worked with a number of large, global financial services companies helping them develop and document the governance and risk management policies and procedures for their executive incentive compensation programs. In addition, for over three years I was based in PwC's London office where I consulted extensively with businesses throughout Europe and Asia.
Before joining PwC, I held senior staff positions with the Federal Government (Social Security Administration, HHS) and the US Congressional Research Service and was also an associate attorney with a law firm in Washington, DC specializing in tax, ERISA and labor law matters.
I have authored a number of articles in a variety of professional and business publications including the Harvard Business Review, the American Banker and the Journal of Pension Planning and Compliance.
