Why did you choose the MILR program?

I chose the MILR program because I believe there are a multitude of aspects that encumber the relationship between leaders and their employees due to an ever-evolving workplace.  The MILR program helped me to understand what these aspects are and provided endless opportunities for me to learn as much as possible before joining the workforce.  As a veteran straight out of the U.S. Army, the MILR program served as an excellent catalyst for me to fill in my business acumen gaps and exposed me to a diversity of talent.  I feel very fortunate to have completed this program, and I now see the return everyday in my role as an HR Business Partner.

What is your favorite part about the MILR program?

My favorite part of the MILR program was being able to work with such a diverse pool of talent.  I have always valued diversity of thought and this program shares that same value, which is one of the reasons it is so singular.

My Favorite Class

My favorite class was Globalization with Rosemary Batt.  I enjoyed the cases we read that analyzed the challenges that surrounded global corporations, non-profits, etc., and how they were able to overcome these challenges.

What is your favorite part of Ithaca?

My favorite part of Ithaca was the gorges, waterfalls, and Finger Lake wineries!  I loved hiking at Buttermilk Falls and enjoyed the Apple Festival in the Fall.

What advice would you give a prospective student?

My advice to any prospective student would be to find a place where you always feel challenged.  If you are doing something that doesn’t challenge you, you are meant for something greater.  The great thing about the MILR program is that you are challenged constantly.

What was your summer internship company/location?

Ecolab Inc., St. Paul, MN

What is the highlight from your summer internship?

My highlight from interning at Ecolab was visiting the CEO’s house while doing a ride-along with the Pest Elimination Division—I got to check his basement for mice.  It was a funny situation to be in.

What is your full-time company/location?

Ecolab Inc. in St. Paul, MN (Currently in an HRLDP Rotational Program)
