Job Gains

Seventy-three percent of students who graduated in 2011 from ILR's undergraduate program report going into employment, up from 65 percent in 2010 and 59 percent 2009, according to the postgraduate report released this week by the school's Office of Career Services.

The 73 percent figure is the second highest for Cornell schools and colleges in 2011. The School of Hotel Administration has the highest figure – 87 percent.

For a seventh year, students who earned bachelor's degrees from ILR in 2011 have the second highest mean salaries among Cornell colleges. At $51,648 annually, the ILR mean salary follows only the College of Engineering.

Twenty-four percent of the class went directly into postgraduate studies, with 18 percent entering law school and six percent pursuing other graduate programs, according to the survey.

The percentage of Class of 2011 recipients of ILR's Master of Industrial and Labor Relations degree going into employment is 92 percent. Six percent of 2011 master's degree recipients in 2011 continued on to study for an additional master's or a doctoral degree.

The mean salary earned by a 2011 master's degree recipient was $75,195 overall and $78,804 for those pursuing corporate positions.

The Office of Career Services also reported that about half of the undergraduate Class of 2012 has provided their postgraduate information. Of that 49 percent:

• 69 percent are employed
  
• 10 percent have been accepted to law school and plan to attend this fall
  
• Six percent have been accepted at other graduate programs and plan to begin this fall
  
• 10 percent are seeking employment
  
• Four percent are seeking acceptance to law school or graduate school
  
• One percent have other plans, such as travel

Eighty-five percent of the Master of Science of Industrial and Labor Relations 2012 graduates reported their activities and indicated they have accepted employment offers or are pursuing additional graduate programs.
