Gender wage gap narrowing in "Best-Paying Jobs"

Francine D. Blau, Frances Perkins Professor of Industrial and Labor Relations and Labor Economics, and an ICS Research Fellow, reflects on Forbes’ Top 10 Best-Paying Jobs For Women In 2011. Clarity of achievement may be important in the narrowing gap of these top paying jobs. For example, with technology jobs (which hold three spots on this top-ten list), either “you can program or not,” says Blau. “Dating back to the 1970s,” she adds “women have been moving into relatively higher paying jobs that were traditionally male…It’s been a very positive development.”
