Stefan Bender, Head of the Research Data Center (RDC) of the German Federal Employment Agency (IAB), will be visiting the Labor Dynamics Institute December 5-7, 2011.
The German RDC provides access to a rich collection of data on individuals, households and establishments. Stefan Bender will be available to discuss types of data, and methods of access, with interested Cornell researchers, including graduate students.

Stefan Bender studied sociology and statistics in Mannheim. From 1990 to 1992 he was a researcher at the University Mannheim. Mr Bender joined IAB in 1992 and has been Head of the Research Data Centre of the Federal Employment Agency since 2005. He is also member of the German Data Forum, head of the EU COST network "CAED" and Standing Committee member in the EU project "Data without Boundaries". His research interests cover labor economics, social mobility and data protection/access. He has published articles on these topics in the American Economic Review, Economica, and Labour Economics.
