ILR Technology Services strongly recommends the use of secured WiFi connections that use encryption such as EDURoam. Avoid open (insecure) WiFi connections such as Red Rover or public WiFi on ILR devices as these networks transmit your information in clear text, making it easy for other users to observe your internet activity. The ILR offices in Ithaca, Buffalo and NYC have nearly 100% wireless coverage (including secure wireless) through the EDURoam service for laptop computers and other portable devices.
