Guest lecturing on Workplace Dispute Resolution in China, 2015

In 2015, the Scheinman Institute was invited to guest lecture on comparative dispute resolution at four universities in China. The lecture series was sponsored by the United States Government (Department of State) and administered by the CUNY Murphy Center of New York.

On April 25, Scheinman Instructor Richard Fincher conducted a lecture with faculty and students on workplace mediation at the School of Law, Central South University, Changsha. On April 27, Scheinman Instructor Fincher conducted a lecture with faculty and students on workplace mediation and arbitration in the Department of Labor Relations at Capital University of Economics and Business, Beijing.

On April 28 and 29th, two lectures on workplace dispute resolution were presented by at the China Institute on Industrial Relations (CIIR) in Beijing, by labor leader Diana Frey of the CUNY Murphy Center and Scheinman Instructor Fincher. On April 20, the Scheinman Institute met with Professor He Qin (Ginger), who was a Visiting Fellow in the Scheinman Institute in 2013. Ginger is a scholar in dispute resolution and now serves as the Vice Dean of the College of Management at Beijing University.  On April 30, the Scheinman Institute and CUNY Murphy Center met with the Dean and faculty of the Trade Union College, Shanghai. Discussions were held concerning future collaboration. Each Chinese university expressed their appreciation to the Scheinman Institute and have invited back ILR faculty in the future.
