Doctoral Program

The MS/PhD degree program is designed for students interested in pursuing an academic career in fields involving the study and research of organizations, human resources and labor relations. Our graduates typically obtain faculty positions in schools of business and labor relations around the world.

Students choose to specialize in one of four areas: Human Resources; Organizational Behavior; International and Comparative Labor; or Labor Relations, Law and History. They may also minor in one of these areas, as well as in Social Statistics or Labor Economics. More information on these areas and the top-tier faculty members in each can be found at:

Both our culture and the size of our program facilitate close working relationships among students and faculty, in an environment that fosters creative interdisciplinary interactions. In consultation with their committee members, students are encouraged to develop a curriculum that suits their particular interests. They are also encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to take classes and work with faculty in other fields at Cornell, including psychology, sociology, economics, political science, communications and management.
