Drupal is an “out of the box” web content management tool as well as a customizable platform that helps you build the right tool to serve your content management strategy.
The ILR Web Team chose to build the new website using Drupal for several reasons:
Scalability - Drupal can manage the largest, most high-traffic sites in the world. While the ILR website is not Weather.com, the webteam wanted to ensure scalability as traffic and content grows.
Mobile First - the technology of the internet is constantly changing. Drupal allows us to build a responsive site and also create web applications that deliver optimal visitor experiences, no matter what device they’re on. Drupal supports responsive design best practices and ensures visitors get the best content experience every time, on every device.
Easy Content Authoring - with content creation distributed throughout the school and among a large group of contributors, Drupal contains simple and essential tools for content creation and publishing.
Open Source Community - Thousands of organizations build solutions with Drupal and through that process, they also build Drupal. From design to system architecture, Drupal experts contribute their real-world solutions back to the community, lead by modern web standards that support reliability and agility.
Strong Stack Foundation - Drupal lives on a modern LAMP technology stack: Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP, which together are meeting the needs of fast-moving, flexible, agile enterprises and brands building next generation digital platforms.
Acquia - Acquia provides the leading cloud platform for building, delivering, and optimizing digital experiences.
We also chose to start small with an MVP (minimum viable product) and create core, stable functionality so we can build on that functionality.
