The link to the scholarship application is below. Please read the scholarship information that follows before filling out the application!

A limited number of partial scholarships are available and will be awarded based on individual needs and the specific requirements of the granting organization. Please encourage your union or central labor body to cover your registration costs before you apply for a scholarship.

We do not want the cost to keep any sister from participating in the Summer School. While we have a limited amount of funds available for scholarships, please do not hesitate to contact us with questions or for ideas and support in navigating the cost-side of attending the Summer School. Contact Julie Sadler at with “Scholarship” in the subject line of the email.

Prior to Applying for a NE Scholarship: The Northeast Regional Summer School for Union Women offers limited scholarships of up to 50% of the total cost of the school to women whose unions or organizations do not offer financial support to attend the Summer School. Priority will be given to first time attendees, to emerging leaders, and those working in non-traditional settings.

Before applying for a NE scholarship, you should reach out to your local, regional, or state-level union leadership for financial support in attending the Summer School. Many unions have a training and development fund or a diversity council that could help you and your fellow sisters attend. Gaining financial support from your union for this educational and development experience may take longer than you expect, so reach out to your union leadership sooner rather than later to learn about how to work with your union for financial support.

Past attendees of the Summer School have shared some of the creative approaches they and their unions have used to raise money to attend the Summer School. For example, when the local union is supportive of sending sisters to the Summer School but does not have the funds available to help, the union has hosted an event in the union office (ex. a benefit dinner, or an auction or garage sale with donated items).

Process and Deadline: Please submit the completed scholarship application as soon as you can after you've registered, but no later than June 17th. The Scholarship Committee will review applications for consideration on a rolling basis, and may contact you via email or phone to discuss your application. Once the Scholarship Committee has reviewed your application and made a decision, you will be notified as soon as possible about the scholarship funding; the committee will work with Cornell University's registrar to credit these funds to your account. You will be responsible for covering the remainder of the registration costs, and until you do so you will not be registered for the Summer School.

Follow-up after the Summer School: Scholarship recipients will be asked to share a one-page report, covering how they are putting the concepts and ideas shared at the Summer School into practice. We ask that this report be completed after the Summer School, due December 16, 2013. We will send out reminders and more details in the Fall.
