Champions @ Work Executive Summary
Champions @ Work Executive Summary highlights the findings of an eight-month study of Western New York workplaces. Released in September 2000, the 97-page report is a regional assessment, a benchmark designed to inform enterprise and regional development. It examines private sector employment, workplace practices and labor-management relations from 1985 to the present. Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations conducted the study as part of its public service mission, with financial support from New York State.
The report summarizes both survey and case study investigations of workplace practices in the region. It is called Champions @ Work because the findings clearly indicate that in workplace practices, labor relations and workforce quality, this is a world-class region.
