Polycom PVX Application
Installation and Configuration for Video Conferencing
Installation:
- Log into the computer with an Administrator account. If you don't know what an Administrator account is, see your local technical support provider.
- Close any open applications or windows
- Insert the Polycom PVX CD into the computer's CD-ROM
- Double click My Computer; then click the drive letter which corresponds to the CD drive where the Polycom CD was just placed
- A Polycom installation window will appear
- Choose a language for the installation by clicking on the desired language
- The next screen will show you the software that is required in order for the Polycom software to operate properly. Applications already installed will appear with a check mark next to the application name:
- Click the name of the application of any applications that are not installed to complete the installation of the needed applications.
- Follow the on-screen installation prompts until each application is installed. You may keep the default installation settings.
- Repeat the last two steps until all of the listed required software applications are checked:
- Click the X in the top-right of the installation window to close the Polycom PVX installation application.
- Continue with the Activating Your Polycom PVX License instructions found on the insert in the Polycom PVX CD packaging
- Once activated, the Polycom PVX application and Logitech QuickCam can be used to make IP video calls (ISDN not possible)
Configuration:
- To launch the Polycom PVX application, click Start ? All Programs ? Polycom PVX ? Polycom PVX
- The blue light on the Logitech camera should illuminate and the Polycom PVX application will open
- To place a video call, the IP address of the site to which you wish to connect must be entered. If the site is one you will connect to only one time, enter the IP address directly in the address box;then, click Call:
- If the site to which you are connecting is one you will connect to again, you may enter the address in the Directory for easy access in the future:
- Click Directory from the main Polycom window to open the Directory.
- Click New to add a new address:

- Enter the name for the site's address in the Name field, the speed may be left at 384 and enter the IP address of the site. Then click add:
- Any site in the Directory can be called by double clicking on the Directory entry or by selecting it then clicking Call.
Call Tips:
- To see what your outgoing video looks like while connected to a conference, click the PIP (Picture-in-Picture) button:
- To mute your microphone, click Mute. This will only mute your microphone.
- When the video conference is complete, click Hang Up to disconnect the call:
